Aerobic Classes (Water and General)

 

The Henderson Family YMCA continues to offer a wide range of aerobic exercise programs for members at no additional cost.  A nursery is available for the children of members taking aerobic classes.  Children 12 and under are not allowed in these classes.  Please note the descriptions for each  class along with the times before you enroll.  A brochure with class schedules is available in the front lobby.

Water Aerobics

An outstanding program for those people who find floor exercise to be too    stressful for bones and joints.  Emphasis is on total fitness, including        heart-lung endurance, muscle flexibility, strength and endurance.

Low Impact

An hour of high energy aerobic training for beginners.

Cardio Body Pump

A cardiovascular class that combines low and high impact.

Step Aerobics

This is a high energy, high intensity, multi-impact class designed to increase, or maintain, your fitness level while effectively and safely burning fat and  toning muscles.

Balls and Bands

Utilizing a stability ball focuses on flexibility and endurance. Increases strength in abdomen, thighs, butt, and hips.

Beginners Spinning

An introduction to our 45 minute high intensity spinning class.  Thirty minutes of low intensity riding focusing on correct form and becoming familiar with our high tech bikes.

Spinning

Forty-five minutes of high intensity riding using high tech stationary bikes this class helps you burn fat, build and tone muscles and increase aerobic strength.                                      

Pilates

Addresses balance while working the entire muscular-skeletal system, as well as impacting the circulatory and lymphatic system. This class is for all levels of expertise.

Yoga

Your goal in yoga is to increase your tone and flexibility and to become more relaxed and focused on your overall health.  Our Monday 5:30 p.m. class is for beginners and offered to Non-members too.  This is the only aerobic class we offer to non-members made possible through a Eat Smart Move More Grant.  Please tell your friends.

Y Adventure Guides and Princesses! An informational "Dads Only" one-hour meeting will be held Monday, September 13th at 5:30 - all fathers with children from 5-9 years old are invited to attend including members and non-members. For questions or more information call Woody or Julia.

Girls on the Run of Vance County - www.gotrvance.org A life-changing, non-profit prevention program for girls in the 3rd through 8th grade. Our mission is “to educate and prepare girls for a lifetime of self-respect and healthy living”. The 24 lesson Girls on the Run curriculum combines training for a 5K (3.1 miles) running event with lessons that inspire girls to become independent thinkers, enhance their problem solving skills and make healthy decisions. All of this is accomplished through an active collaboration with girls and their parents, schools, volunteers, staff and the community. Contact Julia Langston at the YMCA for more info.
