Gym Facts

Our gym is a full sized school regulation gym.  We have two cross court basketball floors.  You must run 17 laps to run one mile.

                                 

Gym Policy

1. Appropriate gym attire is required at all times.

2. Children are not permitted in the gym during times scheduled for adult classes.

3. At all times, please follow the schedule posted at the front desk.  Schedule changes will be made during school vacation times.

         - Adults—18 years of age and older

         - Adults and High School– Grades 9-12 and adult

         - Family– parental supervision required for all children      

            not taking a class.

4. All members and guests will be expected to conduct themselves in a proper manner at all times.

5. Only non-marking rubber soled gym shoes are allowed on the gym floor, please.

6. Violators of the rules and regulations will forfeit their privileges.

7. No eating or drinking in gym.

8. Please bring your own ball to the gym.

 

     Please Note:  The gym is unavailable M-W-F (7:00 a.m.-11:30 a.m.)          

                       

 

                               Children’s Gym

 

The children’s gymnasium was built for children ages 12 and under and for their games and activities when the gym is not in use by child care, summer camp, youth basketball or other planned children’s activities.  All adults must be accompanied by a child in the age group.

Y Adventure Guides and Princesses! An informational "Dads Only" one-hour meeting will be held Monday, September 13th at 5:30 - all fathers with children from 5-9 years old are invited to attend including members and non-members. For questions or more information call Woody or Julia.

Girls on the Run of Vance County - www.gotrvance.org A life-changing, non-profit prevention program for girls in the 3rd through 8th grade. Our mission is “to educate and prepare girls for a lifetime of self-respect and healthy living”. The 24 lesson Girls on the Run curriculum combines training for a 5K (3.1 miles) running event with lessons that inspire girls to become independent thinkers, enhance their problem solving skills and make healthy decisions. All of this is accomplished through an active collaboration with girls and their parents, schools, volunteers, staff and the community. Contact Julia Langston at the YMCA for more info.
