Wellness Center

Top of the line Cybex Weight Training System provides a series of exercise stations, which when used in sequence provides a total workout for every major muscle group.  Other aerobic equipment including eight life fitness ellipticals, 10 TM, four recumbent bikes and much more.  Staff are available to teach you to use this equipment and you are encouraged to make an appointment with one of our fitness directors to provide a more personal training session, three orientation training sessions are included with the cost of your membership.  If you wish to become familiar with all the equipment in the wellness center and develop their cardio and strength conditioning abilities following a structured routine.  Program last 12 weeks during which time all participants will have the opportunity to meet one on one with a fitness trainer to discuaa and implement the program.  Participants will meet four times over the course of the 12 weeks for follow-up appointments and implement futher workouts regarding the program.  The cost for this service is $40.

 

                                Wellness Center Policy

1. Only adults and high school students (age 15 and above) may use the Fitness Center. WWF-Weights, Wellness, and Fitness Class for 11-14 year olds, Students are encouraged to participate in this class to familiarize themselves with all the wellness center equipment.  Once this class is completed students are allowed to workout in the center under the supervision of a parent/guardian.  Classes are offered several times each year.

2. If any part of the Cybex equipment requires repair, please notify us and it will receive immediate attention.

3. Do not bounce or drop weight stacks.

4. Do not for any reason place fingers between weight stacks.

5. Insert weight pin completely.

6. If unfamiliar with the use of a machine, please consult a staff     member for instructions.

7. Thirty Minute Rule– please limit use of wellness center machines to 30 minutes during peak hours (4:30 p.m.- 8:00 p.m. Mon.-Thurs.)

Y Adventure Guides and Princesses! An informational "Dads Only" one-hour meeting will be held Monday, September 13th at 5:30 - all fathers with children from 5-9 years old are invited to attend including members and non-members. For questions or more information call Woody or Julia.

Girls on the Run of Vance County - www.gotrvance.org A life-changing, non-profit prevention program for girls in the 3rd through 8th grade. Our mission is “to educate and prepare girls for a lifetime of self-respect and healthy living”. The 24 lesson Girls on the Run curriculum combines training for a 5K (3.1 miles) running event with lessons that inspire girls to become independent thinkers, enhance their problem solving skills and make healthy decisions. All of this is accomplished through an active collaboration with girls and their parents, schools, volunteers, staff and the community. Contact Julia Langston at the YMCA for more info.
